after witness pneumatic detach live in providence at the noise fest organized by force of nature productions, i also happened to get a copy of his very impressive first demo. it shows where his latest release "pa - re - ses" on frozen empire media came from, and what got him signed to begin with. this nine track demo features some extremely hazardous and powerful directions within the rhythmic noise arena. it reminds me of the sheer hyper-aggressiveness of nkvd and mono no aware, or even turbulent dense layering and dynamic programming of tarmvred.

starting with the opening "burning leaves" we encounter avalanches of fierce rhythmic charges and toxic metal rifts crush through while disruptive transitional devices emphasize the intensity of the composition as it pushes forward. the next track "initial reaction" which is on the latest release "pa - re - ses" as well, pushes onwards applying more melodic guitar assaults with brute rhythmic forces and edgy transitions. "fortex" tears into with even more intense nature, but this time working some very twisted bio-synthetic elements and breaks around quadrants of harsh counter attacks and trance-induced rhythms. "infect" extracts the heavy guitar elements and pushes more relentless percussive structures, while very mysterious patches and menacing vocal breaks attack and shred into abrasive spasmodic rhythms that entangled within as this tracks progresses. the next two tracks "fahrenheit", and the remix of "infect" carry on much of the same idealism but with less emphasis on additional synthetic elements and breaks as with the first four tracks making them a little less appealing in comparison.

the last three tracks are guest remixes; I do like the directions taken on two of these. the first is "lines" reconstructed by nau-zee-aun. it reminds me so much of some of the crossover style of playful idm melodies and harsh rhythmics, similar to those that tarmvred has incorporated in some of his most recent work. the other, "fahrenheit" rmx by gasr takes a very attractive dark electro approach using catchy arpeggiated loops, somber string melodics, and fast yet soft charred rhythms. somewhat reminiscent of early abscess meets index.

in conclusion i have to say that this is another artist that has caught my ears this year and has given some new insight into rhythm 'n' noise genre, filling in the gap i have had for years. with many collaborations and new material in the works, pneumatic detach is surely someone to watch out for in the future.
