Recommended and mastered by Rudy R., Anaesth proves to be another strong release for Mental Ulcer Forges. Written and conceived by Stéphane; Rolland, the band deals with more symphonic string arrangements and vocals, and less emphasis on percussive elements.
The band relies on an array of beautiful and intensely cold melodic string progressions infused with minimal synthetics and percussive aspects. Vocals have a cleaner, more natural edge contrasted by the occasional abrasively ravenous overtones in the chorus regions. At times, the vocals can get a little distracting, taking you away from the music, but not enough to hurt the music entirely.
Overall, a nice contrast to the typical flavor of the weak industrial stuff. Anaesth utilizes some original points that makes it stand apart from others. Beautiful and nice.
