after a bit disappointing single "wasted", I approached this full length album with some skepticism; this mindset helped me to get through the initial feeling of disappointment and allowed me to find quite a few of good tracks on "virgin superstar".

altogether this release is a mix of stronger ebm-like clubhits and softer ballads; its humor, simplicity and softness should be attractive to all old-time fans. you cannot miss the addition of "die powerfrau" annie to the band, her soft angelic vocals surfaces on every track and song "wet spot" is completely dominated by her voice.

powerful title track combines strong dance appeal with nice chorus and clean soft vocals. happy, danceable and… unpretentious, "virgin superstar" possesses quiet magical charm. yet another dance-hit is "goodbye germany" with easily recognizable "and one sound". the darkest (!) track on the disc, "panzermensch", sounds like a curious mix of and one and das ich. yet another personal favorite is "life to lose" - the melody and darker solid techno rhythm makes it a strong club track.

soft and pretty "don't need the drugs" is yet another one of my favorite tracks. its gentle soft melody together with sweet vocals and simple melancholic lyrics is catchy and powerful enough to capture your attention right away.

"virgin superstar" is light soft electro that entirely fits the definition of quality easy-listening music. the band never makes its sound overly cheesy and sweet, managing to combine right amounts of melancholy, danceability and pop-appeal. the album presents softer side of synthpop with nice lyrics, warm and undeniably catchy melodies.
