interment

it's always thrilling to follow the progress of the band and witness the sound mature and improve. together with pulse-8, this by far is the most impressive demo this year. "interment" starts out with two nicely arranged atmospheric tracks with dark ominous bassline and minimal abrasive pulses. quiet mechanized atmosphere shows the ability of the band to construct atmospheric pieces, something that was not nearly as obvious on previous demos.

"con-sequence" is next with crashing disturbed soundscapes evolving to pummeling straightforward rhythm'n'noise track, torn distant synth together with repetitive percussion and heavier noise interjections creates solid interesting atmosphere. "schiz" is one of the best tracks on the demo, reminding me of some converter work. it starts out with militant abrasive percussion that moves on to heavy, processed beats overlaid with random noises, screeches, disjointed synths. next is yet another favorite - crunchy and explosive "x257"; pulsing harsh electronics mixed with technoid beats and distant atmospheric pulses.

as with previous demo, couple of closing tracks could be very well left off, or at least more time could be spent bringing them up to par with the rest of the release.

some tracks still are a bit "raw" sounding and seem to be stretched at times, but the improvement is obvious, and best songs on the demo are definitely on the same level as "big names" of the genre; with some more releases in this vein, together with nicer production and mixing I can see nothing that will stop this band from getting signed.
