innerwar
with all the hype surrounding the band as well as almost cult status of karmanik himself, I took my time listening to this cd. as usual with brutal power electronics of this kind, best result is achieved with a good set of headphones or speakers turned up really loud.
"innerwar" indeed seems to be the strongest release by the band up to date. bdn delivers heavier and more structured abrasive power electronics with more screeching, shrieking, and dense waves of pulverizing power than before. piercing frequencies, hypnotizing saturated basslines, heavily processed and distorted pulses are glued together with harsh repetitive textures. my favorite tracks are "innerwar" and closing "war" - both heavier and more "industrial" versions of usual brighter death now sound. together they present the most aggressive side of the band showing off the best elements of the genre; several rather monotonous and overly simplistic tracks prevent this cd from becoming my absolute favorite.
with every brighter death now release I often find myself craving for more depth and variety of sound, however it definitely does stand out among similar acts within the genre. the band achieves a very nice balance between heavy repetitive textures and intense structured sonic attacks. "innerwar" would be an excellent addition to your collection already containing both cazzodio discs as well as both stratvm terror cds.
