two faced man

dive (1999)

dive strikes back with this four-song ep ("two faced man", "waiting and burning", "blindness", monolith remix of "two-faced man"). first 10-20 seconds of every song are quite interesting - a blend of hard-hitting fast beats and power noise added to the mix, but then it grows too repetitive and monotonous. the vocal resembles industrial bands of early 90s (klute and block 57 are the first ones that pop up in my mind) with its trademark growling and shouting. "waiting and burning" is the most decent track with a hint of synth work and nice quirky beats (just listen to first 30 seconds - it's great), however it grows quite boring after a while. i would love to see someone remixing those songs making them less monotonous and more interesting - the starting material is there. monolith did exactly that - some noisy sonic structures were added to "two faced man" and made it a whole lot more interesting. monolith almost eliminated irritating vocals and changed the song to make it harder, slower, more abrasive, and dense.
