zukunft aus traenen und stahl
l'ame immortelle came to my attention after I heard their brilliant mix on "re_laborat" by das ich. l'ame immortelle creates the sound that mixes many genres together. rooting in death metal genre, it mixes it with synth-pop and symphonic electronics and straight ebm/electro. some of the lyrics and the male vocals are borrowed from the metal days, while heavenly female vocals and light synths could be mistaken for the synth-pop influence; all above is mixed together with ebm/electro to create a dark electronic sound that very symphonic and melodic.
the male voice is standard smothered death-metal vocals, but it actually sounds good with the music, the female vocals by sonja is beautiful and it soars over the music creating a familiar contrast used by doom/gothic metal bands. some of the tracks will remind you of dust of the basement, or funker vogt.
this band should definitely be checked out for its unique and intriguing mix of electro, classical music and very pleasant vocal work. this album is very solid and each composition has something to offer. ranging from the ballad-like grace of "bitterkeit" (a graceful and catchy symphonic track dominated by sonja's voice) to pulsating mayhem of "love is lost" and twisted beauty of "will you". a nice treat on this album is funker vogt remixing "beyond your borrowed dreams".
l'ame immortelle brings back my memories of those old metal days, but subtly transforms them and elevates them to the standards of modern electro scene keeping the old spirit alive. unique and interesting sound of "zukunft aus traenen und stahl" should not be overlooked, and it is guaranteed to appeal to a very wide range of listeners. (just the fact that I have been listening to this album every day for a week now should give you a hint (: )
