magic arrows (2001)

Lately I have been listening to a lot of signaldrift and casino vs. japan's work. listening to this release, those artists are the first thing that comes to mind. magic arrows is comprised of one scott beschta with guest musicians franz bucholtz (signaldrift) and jon mueller (telecognac) on a few tracks. the release is very emotionally bound much like signaldrift and casino's work; sometimes very sentimental and introspectively deep, at times very playful, radiant, and dreamy, to say the least. one thing for sure, it will grow on you the more you listen to it.

almost every track has some unique and pleasant approach provoking reminiscent thoughts of wonderful journeys encountered in the past. track 2, "one against nature" arranges luxurious and melancholic guitar and key melodies that pace beautifully alongside transparent live rhythms, reminding somewhat of the cure's more introspective tracks around "disintegration", pre-wish era. other tracks such as "snowmobile" take you into a blissful past of warm winter evenings in december when the snow is accumulating and you are relaxing pleasantly inside your house watching each snowflake as it falls to the ground. "gospel v9.7" takes you down old country-side evenings when the sun is falling and the clouds shimmer with its radiant sensitivity to its rays. while for "the love of universal thought" takes you through vast moving lights of the evenings highways and the silence of the city after midnight roams your mind. "the shadows of tanks" rewind pleasant and uplifting evenings on the dancefloor, talking amongst friends, and blissfully falling asleep after great evening of dancefloor excitement.

i am not sure how long this artist has been composing music, but i can say there is much personal validity and strength put into his work, much like signaldrift & casino vs. japan's directions. i have been enjoying the directions these bands have to offer, and i hope these pleasant and blissful compositions continue to come for future dreamers to enjoy.
