metus mortuus (1999)

Submerge into the twisted mind of Norway native Johnny Søraker. First of all, fans of ah cama-sotz, MZ.412, Mortiis, or any other CMI artists should definitely look into this project.

First discovered through Tinman Dark Vision Media's "ringworm" compilation with the frightening brooding track "the remoteness of insanity." I had to look into this mysteriously menacing project. And much like the track on the comp, we deal with a very dark, intensely emotional trip into the depths of worlds unknown. Surrender your soul on this journey, because there is no going back.

Enter classicaly dark strings, synthetic atmospheres of things of fantasy and legend, and combine with enticingly layered shifting samples and abysmal elements that you can only perceive. "remoteness of insanity" together with its remix are still the strongest of these seven cruel tracks.

Many should look into this, if they haven't already; it will be a trip never taken before. The only negative criticism I have on this demo, is that of engineering. There seems to be a little static surfacing on this cd throughout, but other than that, one cannot complain. Another great undiscovered artist to look into.
