remote

seems like p·a·l has strongly embraced its new technoid sound; along with "play @ 2 am", this release utilizes more and more of techno-like percussion reducing distorted beats to minimum and replacing them with almost danceable light rhythms. unlike material on "play @ 2 am", "remote" does not have synth lines that came as the biggest surprise on "play @ 2 am".

"u-phex" occupies the first side of this vinyl with the sound that slowly builds up from very minimal, slightly dislocated, light beats. by the end of the track it slightly resembles some of voltaic's work. second side, "n-gate", is considerably darker with harsher noisy textures and dark bass-rich loops. however, the techno elements are present on this track as well, adding to the range of the music.

overall, i am extremely pleased with latest releases from p·a·l - varying from technoid sounds of "mhz" and "hands" releases to the noise-ambient extremes achieved on collaboration with ah-cama sotz.
