pulsing redlight
the music on this disk is an interesting blend of power noise and ebm (those words are merely labels, so read on!). the mix is quite original and the sound is dark, dense and intriguing. pierrepoint was working together with suicide commando on the db.f project (that unfortunately never made it to the release of the full-length album). some of the tracks remind me of b-ton-k, and the majority of the lyrics seems to revolve around "little green men" and other sci-fi stuff.
my favorite tracks on the album are "…sie sind nicht grun" (a 100% hit material, one of the main highlights on the album) with interesting melody, "reversed" beats, power noise elements, and tweaked weird synth. it is unbelievably catchy and i simply had to listen to it again and again. suicide commando mix of the same song was quite disappointing - the main highlights of the track were pushed back, and the melody was sacrificed for heavily-distorted and noisy sound. "rowboz" is another minimalistic noisy electro track with dirty analog beats and growling vocals; once again very reminiscent of b-ton-k - clean, dark pieces blended together with power noise. "judas" is a nice ebm-like piece with wet beats, and tweaked keyboard lines that make this track really addictive and recognizable (great melody, great sound, definitely a hit). "evil seed" has slow pounding distorted beats and clean sharp synthlines. the voice and samples work quite well on this track creating a cold and dark atmosphere filled with heavy noisy rhythmic structures. "ultraschall" is a fast techno/trance track (that is quite unusual for this album). pretty straightforward and hard-hitting.
you don't want to miss this album if you are after an original sound, gracefully manipulated noise structures, well-done programming. the album is harsh, but it is not ear-damaging, it grows quite minimalistic at times, and is rather diverse ranging from fast-paced tracks to slow harsh ones.
