s[e]nd
this collaboration between pure and ultra milkmaids is a second release from vacuum. the sound of this disk is shaped by familiar acoustic ambient of ultra milkmaids, while it appears that in turn pure adds fragile caustic contours to the music, extending and directing ultra milkmaids part. soundwise "s[e]nd" is not as emotionally charged as earlier ultra milkmaids releases, it is also not as focused on bleepy, cut up soundscapes of latest duebel release. it still contained within the boundaries of ultra milkmaids style, toying with more rigid and less emotional sounds, at times moving closer to "clicks&cuts" type of atmosphere with sparse touches of familiar atonal washes.
overall it is an interesting variation of ultra milkmaids style, but it was a little too organic to fully fit under the brand of digital minimalism that appeals to me, at the same time it lacks the emotion and "completeness" of sound ultra milkmaids possesses, but who knows, it might be a pleasant surprise for someone else.
