in the light of upcoming somatic responses material on hymen I decided it would be nice to hold a little retrospective showcase of their material. this record came out as sixshooter #7. this material most closely reminds of “circumflex” released on hymen. deep dark twisted techstep with heavy basslines, crashing percussion and unstoppable rhythms.

my favorite ones are “distress” with familiar mix of brutal drum&bass percussion and distant twisted synthlines. there is something amazingly catchy about this track, in its somewhat raw abrasive beats and density. “stalker” is probably the darkest and most sinister-sounding composition here. it starts with confused menacing ambiance that chills down the atmosphere and raises tension to unbearable levels. finally it explodes with a steady swirling percussion layers that are backed by caustic beats and clean powerful strings. “obstrukshun” displays a variety of percussion approaches and is more of an amusing yet aggressive sonic candy than a dark moody techstep presented on previous tracks. “ripped” steps a little back mixing fast-paced techstep on the verge of speedcore with whacked-out percussion and some cold strings. “vaster” is a solid techstep piece that is captivates with its persistency and constant drive.

overall this is a very impressive release that indicates both the quality of sixshooter releases and talent of healey brothers. this record became one of my favorites together with all recent somatics releases. definitely not to be missed by any somatics fan.
