Much unlike the other Troniks releases I have reviewed which deal with very harsh power electronics, this particular release deals with more atmospheric dark ambient themes. This Germany-based musician, Martin Steinbach, takes us into a world of cold and surreal isolated environments with spacey transitions. Reminds me of a little of the work on "Dreamscapes from the Darkside" from the Hybryds to some of Schloss Tegal's work meets Oil10's early material.
On the first track, "element", a frozen landscape of transparent atmospheric drones glides nicely with distant signal pulses and small modulated resonances. These elements slowly assimilate with more intensity as the track moves towards its conclusion. "Folge" works with layers of warm atmospheric strings that are gradually paced with signal bleeps and pulsations much like Oil10's work. Track three, "menge," slowly dissolves us with very abysmal analog strings and soft foreboding threadlines of distant modulated tones and subtle rhythms. The title track, "ordnung (which also is the longest track - almost twenty minutes) presents richer and slower currents of beautifully dark strings and sizzled lo-fi oscillations that emerge and fade throughout. Transitions are endless and ever changing. Reminding me of some of Tangerine Dream's and John Carpenter's very early work. This is a very solid and substantial track on this release, making it one of my favorites.
Track five, "vorschrift," works with elements similar to other tracks, but warm melodies follow this one pattern making it a little misplaced to the rest of the soundtrack. The final close to this nice release, "beziehung," moves into atmospheres and compositions somewhat similar to "folge," but with tinges of melody on bell & string progressions similar to the previous track, but pulling some newer currents of fluid streams. Soundtrack for a very introspective sci-fi horror movie perhaps? This is my most favorite so far from Troniks.
