clicks & cuts 2

I consider this 3-disc compilation an event in the world of minimal glitch electronica. it is a successor to excellent “clicks & cuts”, and this time features more essays about the genre, more music, more styles, more artists.

I have been absolutely mesmerized by it, listening to it again and again. it is such a perfect assortment of every style that could have any relationship to this highly conceptual form of modern electronics music.

the importance of this landmark compilation series is the way it is presented. it is an affectionate thorough research in the genre, an attempt to bring together and justify the reasons behind the music, the fascination with it, its roots and future. professionalism and expertise is what makes it worth every minute you spend on it.

as for the styles, we are treated with 36 tracks that range from digital humming of pan sonic, to stripped energetic techno; from dark soundscapes of squremeter, to abrasive sonic escapades of kid606; from precise clicks of mikael stravostrand, to beautiful ambient techno of vladislav delay; from warm idm waves of kit clayton to almost extremely sparse, almost dadaist structured minimalism. and it would take me pages and pages to describe countless varieties of styles and tracks presented.

i am sure that out of all that material presented you would find at least something appealing to you, getting your foot in the door of this genre. it would be a crime to overlook this compilation to anyone interested in modern electronic music, for it is not just a few bands working in the genre anymore, it has influenced so many artists in so many genres and styles of modern electronica, that its influence is hard to overestimate.
