delta compilation
Continuing to be on top with some of the most unique packaging around, MHz compiles another set of six intriguing tracks for the curious ones. Packaged in small golden coffee can that you have to open with a can opener just to get the wonderful tape inside! On this one we are presented with klangstabil, cyberthreat, phase 4, dirk farger, comfort.fit, and das kombinat. Presenting another variety of rising musicians (with the exception of already well-established klangstabil) that convey some highly interesting pieces.
Klangstabil opens with sub lo-tech beats that are gradually engulfed by tangled samples and electro-statics that becomes a nice intro for the next tracks. "die lüge" gives yet another edge of klangstabil's sound that I haven't heard before. Cyberthreat gives a short peak into some old-school metallic ebm rhythms that are assisted by severed vocals on "world disaster." Phase4 finishes up side a with a track entitled "frequenzsuche" that utilizes holographic phases, rotating minimal oscillations, and very light snappy percussive aspects.
On side b we encounter the surreal sensibilities and mysterious string patches entangled with the sounds of crickets on a midsummer's evening with "des veröhnten denkers traumeich" by dark ambient artist dirk farger. This is dark and beautifully introspective piece that holds on to several visual elements. comfort.fit gives a laid back loungy track, "when we played our charade", that uses trip-hop rhythms and guitar complimented by a easy going sample. Das kombinat finishes up with experimental ebm that reminded me of early Kirlian Camera's work. Out of the three MHz compilations I own now, this one remains my favorite.
