this young power electronics label presents our ears with a nice arrangement and variety of rhythm n' noise acts as well as dark experimental harsh noise players in the field. among labels presented on this two cd compilation one immediately recognizes hands, hushush, ad noiseam and escape 3 organization. if you are a newcomer to these genres, this just might be a good starting point.

there are many tracks on this compilation that are very well produced and polished, supplying us with a wide understanding of power electronics as a genre. seven tracks in particular caught my attention, dominating throughout both cds. to my surprise, i have to say most of these tracks came from the newer and younger school of power electronic musicians, many of which i am not that familiar with yet.

the first track that hailed a nice concentrated set of combustible rhythms and glistening phase assaults lies within re:con's "paradox." reminding of the great streamlined and rhythmic nature of earlier imminent starvation. scrape[dx] presents erratic toxic breaks and attacks that shift within abysmal enveloping phases and distant sample interludes on "mental genocide." otitis media closes the first cd with heavy, dense, and charred rhythms that funnel forward with immense power while static discharges bend their paths on "transition."

on the second cd, aural blasphemy conjures up an extremely apocalyptic composition entitled "awaken." building up unforgiving turbulent assaults that grind towards the listeners as charred abysmal chords radiate its pathway of destructive dark ambience. a very foreboding track that i will have to say is my favorite from this ever-growing musician. sub skan presents a track that attacks our senses with quadrants of relentless cyber-militant assaults and strategies that move forward around dark bioluminescent atmospheric strings. while "fifty four" from absence insolution takes us down a serrated pathway of disruptive phases that entangle and dissolve with irregular sensitivity while signal relays and statics bend in its way. while tracks like "self" from arisx converge hazardous, shadowy atmospheres and lost signals that are encompassed drum n' noise rhythms and combustible assaults.

in recognition to much of what is out there right now and the directions power electronics is heading, dta records give us a good taste into some very common but solid representations of this genre, but also shines in many geared directions for us to enjoy from several young acts that i am sure will provide more excellent work as these are presented to our ears in the future.
