shock emission
this cd is merely a re-release (with slight alterations and additions) of "shockwave" released by ecr back in 1998. this is second release for syntactically-challenged [], a surprisingly strong technoid offspring of pbr.
if you are not familiar with voltaic, read our review of "shockwave", and use this opportunity to get your hands on this interesting release. combining hard techno rhythms with minimal noises it is covering the gap between more experimental noisy musicians and conventional idm. each composition takes quite a long time to build up, slowly gaining speed and additional layers, at last evolving to the hard pulsing techno. hypnotizing and abstract sound of voltaic is built upon unchanging formula with abrasive atmospheric passages followed by persistent solid rhythm, injections of corroded elements, thick synths and distant noises.
this is one of the heavier and really addicting idm releases I have heard in a while, and I am glad that unit creates another opportunity to appreciate voltaic's sound.
